This is the time of year that we sit and make resolutions, many of which don’t see the next week.. but what if we changed that, this year lets set just one goal, one intention that fit all aspects of our lives.
For myself and Mint Marmalade Design Studio this intention is “Courage”
Now don’t get me wrong, we are no cowardly lions over here at Mint Marmalade, we love a good challenge and are not afraid to break some rules.
We are using “Courage” to give ourselves permission to really shake things up.
We will think differently, we will innovate, we will take on new exciting projects and we will design amazing things. We will look at our processes, materials and tools from a new perspective and we will have fun. Because we have the Courage to step out of our comfort zones and take a leap of faith into the unknown.
Matisse said, “Creativity is Courage” and it’s true, to be truly creative it takes guts to step outside your boundaries and think differently. And really, when has normal been the bar anyway?
The doors to 2018 are wide open, will you have the Courage to Create your own show?
If you have yet to pop down and see our first exhibition, then why not? Located at Health on Brighton, 445 Brighton Road SA, they are open to the public from 9-5 Monday to Friday and Saturday Mornings until the end of August.
After the exhibition these works will be available online. So watch this space!
It's been a long time between drinks here on the Mint Marmalade Blog; I must say Mint Marmalade HQ has been a tad busy.
Over the past few months I have had the privileged to work with some very amazing people, Builders, Authors, Traveling Auctioneers, Naturopaths, Beauticians and Soul Healers.
Mint Marmalade has grown in many ways and as we move into our second year we want you to come with us on a most excellent adventure.
When we started, doing it all seemed easy however we soon discovered that the best laid plans of mice don't always work out, to ensure that we gave our clients the best service ever we had to put a few plans on the back burner for a while.
Well Good News Everybody! we are about to start work on our ready-mades and a fortnightly blog full of tips a tricks to get your business looking a million bucks on that beer budget (cleanskins if you prefer wine).
Mint Marmalade will also be launching a new "Gallery" service, where we will be pairing artist with spaces across the year with a selection of pop up Art Exhibitions. Starting with SALA this August which is being hosted by our friends at Health on Brighton.
However we want to hear from you! Drop us a message via our contact page here, and let me know what you want to read about.. We have a start but would love to help you on your journey, so let us know what platforms you use, what marketing terms drive you crazy and what questions you have and together we an create something amazing!
Come on... admit it... you have read at least one of those insightful blogs that explains how to work at home more effectively, how to create the ‘work/life’ balance we all strive for, how to have it all and still have time for you. In every one of them they explain the importance of carving out time for work, time for family and time for “ME”…And it sounds divine right?
But really... When we get down to the nitty gritty of running a small business, especially one where you wear all the hats... That mysterious “me” time just doesn’t seem that high on the priority list now does it.
With all good intentions we all say, now tomorrow night it will be just me and a good book. But when tomorrow night comes along that good book is still sitting on the shelf and your sitting at your work station creating something amazing for a client, or working on your promotions... This is good thing, as long as you don’t do it all the time. When you’re starting up each precious moment you can be working on your business, that you can be creating for a client is gold. You are building your profile, your reputation and taking your place in your industry... that extra couple of hours you spend working now is going to help build you up for tomorrow.
So when you feel like you’re working too hard and you just have no time for yourself... have a look in the mirror and remind yourself… this is for you and your future.. So really it’s your me time.
Hi! I can't wait to get to know all of you as we create beautiful designs together! Be sure to check in and check out whats going on over here at Mint Marmalade design studio!
